Axe Valley Wildlife Park

Welcome to East Devon’s hidden gem.  A small and friendly animal park in Kilmington,.

You can get involved from feeding the free-range birds to joining in with the daily talks about various animals who live here. In the school holidays they provide a full programme of animal handling sessions and talks throughout the day.

When you visit the park expect to see a variety of animals including: Zebra, antelopes, wallabies, flamingos, owls, otters, small cats, guinea pigs, lemurs, porcupines, armadillo, snakes, spiders, bearded dragons and plenty of creepy crawlies!

Children will also love the various play areas dotted around the park. While they play why not treat yourself to a takeout hot drink and a scrumptious cake from Ringo’s Rest Coffee Shop.  All the produce in the coffee shop is sourced from local suppliers – so why not try some Dorset Tea or some homemade fudge.

Seaton Jurassic

Seaton Jurassic is the new for 2016 exciting visitor attraction for East Devon that will tell the uniquely powerful story of the geology and marine ecology of the Jurassic Coast, England’s first Natural World Heritage Site. Seaton Tramway

Seaton Tramway runs through three miles of unspoilt countryside along the beautiful Axe Valley. They operate a narrow gauge electric tram from Seaton to the ancient town of Colyton via the village of Colyford and carry over 100,000 passengers a year.

Visit the Centre to see the amazing fossil collections and find out how to discover your own fossils on the beach. Guided fossil hunting walks are a great family day out on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Beer Quarry Caves

Beer Quarry Caves are a vast man-made complex of underground caverns created by centuries of quarrying the famous Beer Stone. The underground quarry, first worked by the Romans, supplied stone for 24 cathedrals including Exeter and St.Pauls, parts of Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Windsor Castle.

The Donkey Sanctuary

Donkeys love to meet new people and you can discover their unique characters and stories. Can you find the gentle giant Poitou donkeys, or the gorgeous adoption donkeys? Norman Lockyer Observatory     

Stargazers will love a visit to the Norman Lockyer Observatory. Founded in 1912 by Sir Norman Lockyer, the observatory was a centre for astrophysical and geophysical research until the 1980s. Now run by volunteers, visitors can enjoy a planetarium presentation and a tour of the historic telescopes. The observatory also runs astronomy classes and has a calendar of special public events. Opening times are listed on the observatory website and private visits can also be booked.
